Requirements for Athletic Coaching License

Initial Process for Athletic Coaches

What you will need:

• Fundamentals of Coaching Certification 
• First Aid, Health & Safety Certification
• Verify current CPR certification, including AED use.
• Background/Fingerprinting is required for initial licensure

Renewal Process for Athletic Coaches

What you will need for the renewal:

1. Fill out the Superintendent's Recommendation Form
2. Submit Online Licensure Application
3. Verify current CPR certification, including AED use and completion of First Aid, Health & Safety Certification
   
4. Background checks are not required for renewals with a current NMPED license. 

Please Note:

• The New Mexico Public Education Department requires its own separate background checks. 
• For renewals, your First Aid certificate and CPR must be active
