Disability History and Awareness Month strives to increase awareness, respect, and acceptance for people with disabilities.

Disability History and Awareness Month observes the history of disability rights in the United States.  A related observance during the month of October is the National Disability Employment Awareness Month that raises awareness of the employment needs and contributions of workers with disabilities.
