Open/Switch Enrollment for APS Employees is October 1 through 16
Your Benefits - Building Generational Health! APS Benefits Annual Open/Switch Enrollment & Wellness Fair
Building generational health by encouraging employees to consider the legacy of well-being they create and pass on through health, harmony, hope, and home. Attend the APS Wellness Fair for in-person open enrollment support, mammograms, biometric screenings, walk-up vaccines, and so much MORE!
Open/Switch Enrollment is October 1 through 16
All benefit-eligible employees can review, enroll, or switch benefit selections online during this time. Benefit-eligible employees will receive emails from HRnoreply@aps.edu starting October 1, 2026. Benefit selections made during Open/Switch Enrollment will be effective on January 1, 2027.
- Note: Even if you are a new employee, recently hired between July and September, you must participate in the open enrollment process to understand any benefit changes effective January 1, 2027.
- This is also the time to enroll or re-enroll in the ASIFlex healthcare and dependent care flexible spending accounts (FSA) for 2027. You must re-enroll in the FSA each year during Open Enrollment, even if you recently enrolled as a new employee.
Medical, Dental, and Vision Rates for 2027
For 2027, medical, dental, and vision premium rates will increase by 20.5%. We realize this is difficult for employees and families. As a reminder, as of July 1, 2026, per HB 47, passed in the 2026 NM Legislative Session, the cost-share for voluntary medical, dental, and vision plan premium rates is 80% APS and 20% enrolled employees. This means APS pays 80% of the premium, and employees pay 20%, regardless of each benefits-eligible employee's annual salary.
If you have questions and want to understand why our costs are rising, please read this informative presentation on APS Benefits as a self-insured organization, what that means, and the 'why' behind continued rising healthcare coverage costs.

NEW & Expanded Biometric Screens!
What Are Biometric Screens?
A biometric screening is a medical examination that assesses a person's overall risk of chronic disease. A biometric screen includes:
- Blood pressure
- Blood glucose levels
- Cholesterol levels (HDL/LDL)
- Triglyceride levels
- Height and weight
- Body mass index (BMI)

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Care Van and Presbyterian Mobile Health Unit will provide biometric screenings for employees. The vans will be parked in the front lot. Care coordinators and wellness coaches will be available to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer resources after your screening.
Other preventive health services, such as vaccinations, mammograms, a blood drive, a mini farmers' market, local businesses, community wellness organizations, and more, will be available. This event is open to all APS employees regardless of full- or part-time status.
*Links for mammograms and blood donation appointments are below. You do not need an appointment for biometric screenings or vaccinations.
