What actions do you need to take?

Use this quick summary to help guide you through what actions you may or may not need to take through the annual APS Open/Switch Enrollment.

Medical Plan Action

  • Enroll if not currently enrolled.
  • Change your current medical plan option.
  • Note: True Health New Mexico (THNM) members must enroll in a new health care plan for benefits starting January 1, 2023. Current THNM members have complete coverage through December 31, 2022. If you are a THNM member, you must go through the enrollment process and select another plan or you will be without medical coverage for 2023. 
  • If needed, to select a new medical insurance plan option for 2023. APS will offer three medical insurance plan options.
  • Add or dis-enroll a dependent.
  • Waive coverage if you are currently enrolled in APS Benefits.

If you don't take action:

  • If you are currently enrolled in one of our medical plans, you will automatically be enrolled in 2022 for that medical plan option. 
  • Please note: There were some changes to the plan features for 2022 and costs have changed slightly for 2023. Check the comparison charts and premium payroll deduction pages.
  • If you are currently not enrolled in an APS medical plan, and you chose not to engage in open enrollment, you will be without APS coverage in 2023.
  • If you are currently enrolled in THNM and do not select another plan, you will not have APS medical insurance coverage in 2023.

Dental Plan Action

  • Enroll if not currently enrolled.
  • Change your current dental plan. (Note: The two-year enrollment lock-in rule applies)
  • Add or dis-enroll a dependent.
  • Waive coverage if you are currently enrolled.

If you don't take action:

  • You will remain enrolled in your current dental plan option.
  • If you are currently not enrolled in an APS dental plan, and you chose not to engage in this process, you will be without APS coverage in 2023.

Vision Plan Action

  • Enroll if not currently enrolled.
  • Add or dis-enroll a dependent. (Note: The two-year enrollment lock-in rule applies)
  • Waive coverage if you are currently enrolled.

If you don't take action:

  • You will remain enrolled in the vision plan.
  • If you are currently not enrolled in the APS vision plan, and you chose not to engage in this process, you will be without APS coverage in 2023.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Action*

*Please be certain you understand how the Flexible Spending Accounts work before you enroll. APS is offering an information session on Friday, Sept. 30 at 3:30 pm. It will be recorded for and placed on the APS Employee Wellness YouTube channel.

  • To enroll in either the Healthcare FSA or the Dependent Care FSA or both, you will enroll online for the FSA during Switch/Open Enrollment.

If you don't take action:

  • You will NOT be enrolled in an FSA. If you want FSA benefits, you must re-enroll each year.

Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance Action

APS will not be accepting applications for additional life insurance or long-term disability insurance during Switch/Open Enrollment in 2022. You may apply at any time during the year (except during Switch/Open Enrollment,) subject to Evidence of Insurability.

Exceptions

The exception is Child Life Insurance, which you must elect as a new hire or during Switch/Open Enrollment.)
