What actions do you need to take for Benefits Enrollment?

Use this quick summary to help guide you through what actions you may or may not need to take through the annual APS Open/Switch Enrollment.

Medical Plan Action

  • Enroll if not currently enrolled.
  • Change your current medical plan option.
  • Add or disenroll a dependent.
  • Waive coverage if you are currently enrolled in APS Benefits and wish to disenroll.

If you don't take action:

  • If you are currently enrolled in one of our medical plans, you will automatically be enrolled in 2024 for that medical plan option. Since there are increases to the medical plan premium contributions for 2024, it will be assumed you are aware of these changes.
  • Please note: Medical premium costs have increased for 2024. Check the 2024 comparison charts and premium payroll deduction pages.
  • If you are currently not enrolled in an APS medical plan, and you chose not to engage in open enrollment, you will be without APS coverage in 2024.

Dental Plan Action

  • Enroll if not currently enrolled.
  • Change your current dental plan. (Note: The two-year enrollment lock-in rule applies.)
  • Add or disenroll a dependent.
  • Waive coverage if you are currently enrolled and wish to disenroll.

If you don't take action:

  • You will remain enrolled in your current dental plan option.
  • If you are currently not enrolled in an APS dental plan, and you choose not to engage in this process, you will be without APS coverage in 2024.

Vision Plan Action

  • Enroll if not currently enrolled.
  • Add or disenroll a dependent. (Note: The two-year enrollment lock-in rule applies.)
  • Waive coverage if you are currently enrolled and wish to disenroll.

If you don't take action:

  • You will remain enrolled in the vision plan.
  • If you are currently not enrolled in the APS vision plan, and you choose not to engage in this process, you will be without APS coverage in 2024.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Action*

To help you understand how the Flexible Spending Accounts work before you enroll please review this slide presentation from ASIFlex.

  • To enroll in either the Healthcare FSA or the Dependent Care FSA or both, you will enroll online for the FSA during Open/Switch Enrollment.

If you don't take action:

  • You will NOT be enrolled in an FSA for 2024. If you want FSA benefits, you must re-enroll each year even if you just enrolled as a new employee.

Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance Action

APS will not accept applications for additional life insurance or long-term disability insurance during Open/Switch Enrollment. You may apply at any time during the year (except September 20 through October 31) subject to Evidence of Insurability.

Exceptions

The exception is Child Life Insurance, which you must elect as a new hire or during Open/Switch Enrollment. You must be currently enrolled for Additional Life Insurance in order to enroll your child or children for Dependent Life Insurance, which must be done during Open/Switch Enrollment
