Cibola High School Robotics Program - 2025 Best In Class Nominee

About the Cibola High School Robotics Program.

Students working on a robotics project.

Our program started in 2018 and our commitment to spreading the benefits of robotics education extends beyond our school. In the past, we have successfully helped other schools within the APS district by providing robots, tools, resources, and training to kickstart new programs. We provide a robust Robotics and Engineering Team offering experience in robotics, competitions, and engineering designs. We developed a robotics competition field allowing team members to test and practice their engineering designs before competitions and host regional and statewide Robotics Tournaments at our school. The competition fields are shared with other schools to assist with their robotic programs.

Students participate several days a week after school. They take ownership and responsibility and are developing advanced engineering skills. The study of competitive robotics encompasses all four pillars of STEM education and encourages important life skills like teamwork, communication, and project-based organization.

If We Win...

We aim to further our network of robotics programs by sharing our resources and expertise. By doing so, we aspire to inspire and support the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers across New Mexico. The Best In Class Award from the APS Foundation would be a transformative milestone for our Robotics program. With the generous support of the foundation, we plan to invest in advanced fabrication equipment and robotics parts that will allow our students to delve deeper into the exciting world of robotics. By introducing new fabrication methods for custom parts, our students will gain hands-on experience in designing and building innovative solutions. This expansion will not only enhance their technical skills but also foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among our young engineers. Our goal is to create an environment where students can explore their passions and push the boundaries of what they can achieve in engineering and robotics. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the future of STEM education in our community.
