  • The Principals and Assistant Principals at the following PED "TOPS" Schools are paid on a 216-day Middle School Contract: Emerson, Lowell, Kirtland, Atrisco, Pajarito, Lavaland, BelAir, and Bellehaven.

  • The Principals and Assistant Principals at the following Extended Learning Time Program Schools (ELTP) are on a 211-day Elementary School Contract with five (5) additional off-contract days paid on a timesheet at their hourly rate of pay: Armijo, Barcelona, Carlos Rey, Edward Gonzales, Helen Cordero, Kit Carson, Mountain View, Navajo, Tomasita.
  • Beginning 22-23 a Principal/Assistant Principal who teaches a class during the duty day will receive a stipend not to exceed $2,500 per semester or $5,000 per year.   This stipend is paid from the school's FTE budget. A timesheet, that includes the Supervisor’s signature, is sent to Labor Relations.

About the SPE Salary Schedules

Alternative High School Principals and Assistant Principals will be paid at the same daily rate as the Traditional High School Principal and Assistant Principals on a 216-day contract.

Experience will be awarded as follows:

  • 1 for 1 for Principal experience; (position must have required an Administrators license)
  • 1 for 1 for  credit Superintendent experience; (position must have required an Administrators license)
  • 1 for 1 for Assistant Principal experience beginning with 13-14
  • 2 for 1 for District Administrator experience i.e. Coordinator;
  • All credit will be for complete years – no credit will be given for partial years;
  • Coordinator credit will be rounded down ex. 3 years as a Coordinator = 1 year of experience.
  • Beginning 13-14 Assistant Principal experience will be counted 1 for 1. (position must have required an Administrators license)
  • Placement on Salary Band 2 and 3 starts at the beginning of the 5th and 10th year
