Grant Resources for APS Charter Schools
APS Authorized Charter Schools have access to a variety of grant funding opportunities to support student achievement, innovative programs, and school improvement efforts.
Grant Application Guidance for APS Authorized Charter Schools
APS Authorized Charter Schools may apply for external funding without going through the district’s grant pre-approval process. If you are an APS Authorized Charter School, and you are interested in applying for federal or state funding that may flow through the district, please contact Roberta Velasquez, APS Charter School Business Manager at roberta.velasquez@aps.edu for guidance and more information.
Some government funding opportunities may flow through APS and could require a joint application with the district. These situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Authorized Charter School Grant Funds Manual
This manual provides guidance on the use, management, and compliance requirements for grant funds awarded to charter schools.
- Grant Eligibility & Application: Charter schools may independently apply for most grants, but must coordinate with APS for state and federal funding opportunities, especially if the funds flow through the district or require joint applications.
- Fund Management: All grant funds must be used in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as the terms of the grant award. Charter schools are responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring proper use of funds.
- Reporting & Compliance: Timely and accurate financial and programmatic reporting is required. Schools must follow procedures for reimbursements, payroll, and documentation as outlined in the manual.
- District Coordination: APS works with charter schools to ensure accountability and compliance. Certain processes—such as budget approval and audit support—may involve district departments.
