Planned Gifts

A planned gift is a contribution to the Education Foundation, that is arranged in the present and allocated at a future date.

Gifts That Honor Your Legacy

Donate Now!Make an impact on the generations to follow.  Sharing the fruits of a life well lived is a great way to a lasting legacy on the students of tomorrow.

Honorariums and Memorials

A great way to pay tribute to a friend, colleague or family member is with a financial contribution to the APS Education Foundation.  Honorariums may be made to the Foundation in honor or recognition of a birthday, anniversary, special event or achievement for your recipient.   Memorials may also be made in memory or remembrance of one’s passing.

Upon receipt of your contribution, the APS Education Foundation will notify the recipient of your honorarium or memorial.  Your gift will make an impression on the hearts and minds of those who will receive an acknowledgement card recognizing your kindness.  The value of your gift will remain confidential.

Beneficiary Designations

Naming the Foundation as the recipient of your assets, IRAs and retirement plans, or life insurance or insurance annuities allows you to support the Foundation and often leaves your heirs with many tax advantages.

Endowed Gifts

Endowments are gifts that are a permanent pool of support for the Foundation programs, because the funds are invested by professionals on behalf of the Foundation to support our programs for many lifetimes to come.  Cash, securities or other assets can be used to create your endowment, or you can join one we’ve already created.

Bequests

One of the most popular types of legacy gifts, bequests are gifts to the Foundation designated in your will that are simple, flexible and versatile.  All you need is to add a few sentences to your will using our office bequest language.  Because the gift is made after your death, you can change your mind at any time simply by changing your will.  It is flexible because you can specify anything from money to a prized possession to a percentage of your estate.

How to Bequest

You can plan now for a future gift to the Foundation by including a bequest provision in your Will or Trust.  The APS Education Foundation can be named a beneficiary of an estate or as a recipient of a specified gift.

Assets such as Individual Retirement Account (IRA) benefits, 401(k) benefits, and life insurance benefits can be donated by naming the APS Education Foundation as the designated beneficiary of your contract.

A bequest is from you if:

  1. You want to help ensure the Foundation’s future viability and strength;
  2. You want the flexibility of a fit that doesn’t affect your current cash flow;
  3. You wish to retain control of your assets during your lifetime;
  4. You need the flexibility to change your bequest if your circumstances change;
  5. You gain satisfaction from the certainty that your bequest will support the Foundation long after you are gone.

Sample Bequest Language

Please refer to the following for sample bequest language:

Unrestricted Gifts:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to the APS Education Foundation, Albuquerque, New Mexico, the sum of $_________*, for its general purposes.”
Gifts for a Specific Purpose:
“I, give, devise, and bequeath to the APS Education Foundation, Albuquerque, New Mexico, the sum or $_________*, to be used for [state specific purpose, program or activity].”
Residuary Bequest:

Contingency Gift:

Rather than leaving a certain lump sum, you may include language that refers to a percentage or your estate or a description of the property you wish to give.
