What is the HST (formerly GED)?
The High School Equivalency Exam (HST) Test Battery is a national examination developed by the GED Testing Service of the American Council on Education (ACE).
How it Works
Existing APS Students
- First, you must withdraw from high school.
- Then, the student and parent/guardian come in to the APS Service Center (map to the Service Center) with the following:
- withdrawal paperwork from your school
- your birth certificate
- If your paperwork is approved, APS will issue you a "New Mexico Underage Permission Hardship Form" provided by the State of New Mexico.
- Then, go to a HST Testing Center in Albuquerque (typically in person) to pre-register for the test. Search for a testing center near you or call one of the following centers in Albuquerque:
- CNM Testing Center: (505) 224-3243
- YDI Testing Center: (505) 352-3469
Students Living Outside the APS Attendance Area
Please contact your school district for information on earning a HST.
- Rio Rancho School District
- Moriarty School District
- Los Lunas School District
- Charter School students go to their Charter for support
Out of State Students
