Building Access
Information for employees about accessing district facilities and how to gain access to locked buildings during normal access hours.
Normal Access
Hours
District buildings are opened, closed, and secured by building managers, assigned custodians, or another designated district employees.
Buildings are open for employee access during the following hours:
- Monday through Friday, from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Weekend Access Hours
Employees may request authorization from the School Police department to get access to district sites on the weekends.
Employees with permission to access buildings on weekends may do so during the following hours:
- Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Exceptions to Access Hours
High School buildings generally don't following these guidelines because of the number of extracurricular activities scheduled at high school sites.
Building Closings
All district buildings are closed to employees on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Contact the School Police department for information on getting access to district buildings.
Are you trying to access a locked building during normal access hours?
Call APS Police dispatch at (505) 243-7712 or (505) 235-1120 before entering the building with the following information:
- Employee number
- The exact areas of the facility you'll be accessing
- An estimated time you'll be leaving the facility
The dispatcher will determine whether you're authorized to enter the building and will give you further instructions.
Call the APS dispatch again when you're leaving so the alarm may be reset.
Approval for Building Access
Approval for building access to employees is determined by the APS Safety Policy.
