Whistleblower Reporting

Confidentially report concerns related to unlawful or unethical governmental actions — including fraud, waste, abuse of authority, safety concerns, or retaliation.

APS employees and members of the public may submit whistleblower reports through the APS reporting system in Let’s Talk. Reports may also be submitted by calling the APS Service Center at (505) 855-9040 or visiting the office at 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE, Suite 100W.

Concerns that may be reported through the whistleblower portal include:

• Fraud, theft, embezzlement, or misuse of public funds
• Abuse of authority or conflicts of interest
• Gross mismanagement or waste of district resources
• Violations of federal or state law, Board policy, or district procedural directives
• Falsification of records or documents
• Significant threats to public health, safety, or security
• Retaliation against an individual who reports concerns in good faith

Personnel matters involving workplace disputes, evaluations, supervision, or other Human Resources concerns may also be submitted through Let’s Talk. However, those concerns will be routed through the appropriate HR processes and will not be classified as whistleblower complaints.

Reports should be made by individuals with direct knowledge of the situation whenever possible. Providing detailed and accurate information helps support a thorough review and investigation.

Reports submitted through the whistleblower system are confidential and routed to the appropriate APS staff for review and investigation. Individuals who submit reports may receive updates regarding the status of the review, including notification when a case has been closed.

APS encourages employees and community members to raise concerns in good faith and prohibits retaliation against individuals who report suspected wrongdoing or participate in an investigation.
