Career and Technical Education Federal Grant

The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (Perkins IV) assists schools in developing a comprehensive system of Career and Technical Education.  Through the implementation of the 5-Year State Plan under Perkins IV, APS seeks continued improvement in Career and Technical Education programs by deploying the framework for 21st century learning using the Career Clusters Initiative (CCI) framework.  The 21st Century Learning Framework identifies a unified, collective vision to strengthen American education.  The key elements of 21st Century Learning are 1) student outcomes: Life and Career Skills, Learning and Innovation Skills, Information, Media, and Technology Skills and 2) support systems: Standards and Assessments, Curriculum and Instruction, Professional Development and Learning Environments.

This schematic provides rigorous combinations of core academic and career support course work as the guiding principles; Program of Study development  supports the student in meeting  graduation requirements while simultaneously emphasizing 21st century themes such as global awareness; financial economic, business and entrepreneurial literacy; civic and health literacy. The APS Perkins IV grant supports the following qualifying schools.
