STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (K-12)

Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math - often called STEM - help students understand how the world works and how to shape what comes next.

At APS, students learn by doing—asking questions, solving problems, and applying their learning in real-world ways.

We have two unique STEM-focused elementary schools—one in the city and one in the East Mountains—giving families options early on.

Engineering the Future Pathway

 

One of the district’s signature STEM pathways is Engineering the Future, a K–12 experience. Through hands-on projects like robotics and engineering challenges, students build skills in coding, teamwork, and problem-solving, with opportunities for internships, field trips, and career-connected learning through partners like the University of New Mexico and Sandia National Laboratories. Starting in elementary school and continuing through high school, the pathway helps students build the skills, confidence, and experiences they need for college and beyond.
