Biography
Sheri Jett serves as the Chief Academic Officer for Albuquerque Public Schools, leading the district’s instructional vision and ensuring all students have access to high-quality, culturally and linguistically responsive education. She assumed the role in 2024.
A proud and dedicated member of the APS community, Jett has devoted her career to advancing educational excellence and equity across the district. She oversees curriculum development, instructional programming and academic initiatives while also working closely with school leaders, educators and families to foster environments in which every student can thrive.
Jett is a graduate of the University of New Mexico, with a bachelor’s degree in English and Political Science and a master’s in Business Administration Policy and Planning. For several years she served as a classroom teacher and leader at West Mesa High School.
She has also been an assistant principal at Truman Middle School and was the first principal of Health Leadership High School. Prior to becoming the chief academic officer, Jett served as a principal support specialist of middle school learning and Learning Zone 1 and associate superintendent of school climate and support.
Jett’s leadership is guided by a steadfast commitment to the success of APS students, particularly those from historically underserved communities. As chief academic officer, she emphasizes data-informed practices, collaborative decision-making and continuous improvement to elevate teaching and learning across all schools.
Under the direction of Superintendent Gabriella Blakey, Jett also is overseeing the district's transition to the Academies of Albuquerque, a new concept for high school learning. She is championing the APS effort to improve student outcomes with an emphasis on high-quality instructional materials and collaborative teaching and administrative practices at all levels.
