BE1 Board of Education Meeting Agendas - July 2024 Revision

Board of Education regular and special meeting agendas shall be set by the Board of Education president and the superintendent, or his/her designee. Any member of the board may request to have an item added to the agenda through committee meetings or by contacting the president. All Board of Education regular and special meeting agendas shall be subject to approval and adoption by the Board of Education.

Board of Education committee meeting agendas shall be set by the Board of Education committee chair, superintendent and his/her designee. All Board of Education committee meeting agendas shall be subject to formal approval and adoption by the committee.

The Board of Education shall reserve the right to alter the order and/or delete items at the meeting. Except in an emergency, the Board of Education draft meeting agenda shall be posted seventy-two (72) hours in advance of a Board of Education meeting. Except in an emergency, action may only be taken on items that have been officially posted on the final agenda thirty-six (36) hours prior to the meeting in compliance with the Open Meetings Act.

Consent Calendar

The Board of Education may take action on items listed on a consent agenda, as a separate item of the agenda, without reading the description of each item aloud. Items included on the consent agenda shall generally be routine business items and/or non-controversial items requiring no substantive discussion. Before any action is taken on items listed on a consent calendar, the Board of Education shall allow a public comment period. Any item listed on a consent calendar must be removed from the consent calendar by a member of the Board of Education if a member objects to the presence of the item on the consent calendar. The name of the member who objects to a consent calendar item shall be included in the meeting minutes.
