Homeless Project Volunteers
Over 1,600 Friends of the Title I Homeless Project Volunteered in 2009-2010!
Volunteers contribute IMMEASURABLY to the Title I Homeless Project! Here are just a few examples:
- United Way Young Leaders provided caps and gowns for graduating seniors who are homeless.
- Keshet Dance Company provided free dance and yoga classes at eight tutoring sites, serving about 300 elementary and high school students.
- Manzano Day School and Southwest Learning Academy students filled backpacks with school supplies and helped in the pre-school.
- La Cueva teachers and ADK Gamma Educational Honorary Teachers baked birthday cakes every month for the tutoring program students.
- Local churches, civic groups, and schools provided non-perishable food items for homeless students and families each week this school year.
- The Albuquerque Master Gardeners assisted with our gardens at several schools.
- The Junior League of Albuquerque filled packbacks several times. One JLA member provided extensive in-service on dental care for students in after school programs.
- Hairstylists throughout the city provided back-to-school cuts and styling for secondary students.
Contributions by many other community volunteers are too numerous to list, but we wish to thank each and every one of them for making life a little bit better for homeless children and their families. THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!
