Work-based Learning

Work-based learning experiences provide an opportunity for students to gain career awareness in a safe and supportive environment. Programs are designed to provide occupation/pathway training on a part-time basis for juniors and seniors in an occupation of their choice. A career pathway training plan is developed for students with the support of teachers, parents and business. Business partners provide students with part-time supervised work experience in accordance with a training plan for approximately 10-20 hours per week. Students learn essential knowledge and skills that support future success. Employers and teachers assess student performance based on standards and goals developed at the beginning of the worksite learning experience. At least once a quarter, students receive feedback on their strengths and weaknesses from their employers with the support of their teacher.
