Newcomer Summer Program

The mission of the Newcomer Summer Program is to accelerate the academic and personal growth of refugee and immigrant students by providing a comprehensive summer program that focuses on English Language Development, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts.

When is Newcomer Program?

Location:  Valley High School

Dates:  June 10 – June 17, 2025 Monday – Friday

Times:  8:00 am – 3:00 pm

Student Eligibility:

Students must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Newcomer Summer Program

  1. Enrolled in APS in grades 6-12 in SY24/25

  2. English learner

  3. In U.S. schools for less than 4 full academic school years

  4. ACCESS/WIDA scores at 2.9 or below

  • ELD
  • Math Social
  • Studies Science
  • Art & Music
  • Weekly Field Trips

SERVICES OFFERED:

  • 0.5 Credit for HS Students
  • Transportation
  • Breakfast & Lunch

 

Interested in working with us?

Each year we hire a team of passionate educators including teachers (ELD, Math, Science, Social Studies), family liasons and coordinators. 

  1. All applicants must be current APS employees

  2. Teachers must be secondary endorsed in one or more of the following fields (ELD/ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies)

  3. ACCESS/WIDA scores at 2.9 or below

  4. Speaking more than one language is a plus!
