Newcomer Summer Program
The mission of the Newcomer Summer Program is to accelerate the academic and personal growth of refugee and immigrant students by providing a comprehensive summer program that focuses on English Language Development, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts.
When is Newcomer Program?
Location: Valley High School
Dates: June 10 – June 17, 2025 Monday – Friday
Times: 8:00 am – 3:00 pm
Student Eligibility:
Students must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Newcomer Summer Program

Enrolled in APS in grades 6-12 in SY24/25

English learner
-
In U.S. schools for less than 4 full academic school years

ACCESS/WIDA scores at 2.9 or below

- 0.5 Credit for HS Students
- Transportation

Each year we hire a team of passionate educators including teachers (ELD, Math, Science, Social Studies), family liasons and coordinators.

Teachers must be secondary endorsed in one or more of the following fields (ELD/ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies)

ACCESS/WIDA scores at 2.9 or below
