BC Board Member Conduct and Conflict of Interest - July 2024 Revision

Board of Education members shall be prohibited from using confidential information acquired by virtue of their associations with the district for their individual or another's private gain.

Board of Education members shall be prohibited from requesting or receiving and accepting a gift or loan for themselves or another that tends to influence them or appear to influence them in the discharge of their duties as Board of Education members.

Business conducted by the Board of Education with suppliers to the district shall not be influenced or appear to be influenced by a Board of Education member's financial interest.

Board of Education members shall, in all instances, maintain their conduct at the highest professional and ethical standards.  Board of Education members shall not engage in activities that violate federal, state, or local laws or that, in any way, diminish the integrity, efficiency, or discipline of the district.

Board of Education members shall disclose known potential conflicts of interest in connection with district contracts, purchases, payments or other pecuniary transactions in writing to the executive director of the Board of Education Services Office on an annual basis. Newly elected Board of Education members shall be notified of this policy upon assuming their office. Board of Education members shall notify the executive director of the Board of Education Services Office if conditions regarding potential conflicts of interest change.
