Newcomer Summer Program

The newcomer summer program is an annual program for recently arrived English Learners that supports English language development through engaging activities and classes.

Mission

The mission of the Newcomer Summer Program is to accelerate the academic and personal growth of refugee and immigrant students by providing a comprehensive summer program that focuses on English Language Development, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and the Arts.

Student Eligibility

  1. Students must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Newcomer Summer Program
  2. Enrolled in APS in grades 5th grade-12th grade in SY26/27
    English learner
  3. In U.S. schools for less than 5 full academic school years
  4. ACCESS/WIDA scores at 3.0 or below
