APS Is Accepting New Charter School Applications

Application for New Charters Due May 1, 2019-June 1, 2019

Albuquerque Public Schools is accepting applications for new charter schools.  Application packages may be submitted between May 1, 2019-June 1, 2019.  Applicants shall use the Albuquerque Public Schools Office of Innovation and School Choice Application Kit. Completed application packages shall be submitted both electronically and in hard copy format. Electronic submissions are to be emailed to Amy Chase, Coordinator for the Office of Innovation and School Choice at amy.chase@aps.edu. Seven (7) printed copies of the application are to be submitted to the Office of Innovation and School Choice at Albuquerque Public Schools, 6400 Uptown Blvd NE, 6th Floor.

New applicant trainings will be planned on an individual basis. Please contact the APS Office of Innovation and School Choice Senior Director to set up a meeting.

Current law provides that all applications for new charter schools must be filed no later than June 1, 2019 to be considered to begin operating in the following fiscal year (July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021).  Therefore, the completed applications must be received by APS by close of business on June 1, 2019.
