J.16 Athletic Eligibility - April 2001 Revision

The district will follow the athletic eligibility regulations established by the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA). The Board of Education specifically adopts the 180 local option standard available under NMAA Bylaw 4.20.8E.2 that requires students attending schools outside their home attendance area to wait 180 school days prior to competing in varsity athletics. Underclassmen, (freshmen, sophomores, juniors) could compete on non-varsity teams upon petition of the NMAA (NMAA 4.20.5).
