An effective working relationship between the Board of Education and the superintendent is essential to the successful operation of the Albuquerque Public Schools. The development and maintenance of such a relationship shall be assisted by a periodic review of the superintendent's diverse responsibilities accompanied by an appraisal of the superintendent's performance.
The Board shall annually evaluate the Superintendent in compliance with state statute and regulation.
Based on a process and criteria that are mutually agreeable to the Board of Education and the superintendent, which shall be outlined in board procedural directive, the Board of Education shall evaluate the superintendent's effectiveness. The evaluation document and procedures to be used shall be reviewed and approved annually by the Board of Education and the superintendent.
