Chief Manuelito Scholarship Information

The Office of Navajo Nation Scholarship and Financial Assistance (ONNSFA) is requesting nominations for the 2021-2022 Chief Manuelito Scholarship. Navajo seniors are required to meet all eligibility criteria prior to graduating high school. ONNSFA will review the high school transcript for cumulative grade point average (GPA), corresponding ACT/SAT test score, must earn 1 unit of Navajo Language and 0.5 unit of Navajo Government. Weighted GPAs will be used for high schools that include the information on the final transcript. The Chief Manuelito Scholarship was established in 1980 by ONNSFA to provide merit scholarships to qualified Navajo students who excel academically. The estimated award of $7,000.00 for the 2020-2021 academic year will be awarded early July 2021.

Submit a list of potential candidates who meet the above criteria by Friday, May 14, 2021.  The list should include student’s full legal name, date of birth, and a copy of the current high school transcript posting ACT/SAT test scores, Navajo Language and Navajo Government classes. Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements by June 25, 2021.

 ONNSFA Full-Time Applicant Checklist and instructions to Applying Online is attached for distribution to potential Chief Manuelito Scholars to apply online at www.onnsfa.org beginning March 15, 2021.

 ONNSFA will notify eligible Navajo students of their official award in July. Chief Manuelito recognition ceremonies conducted by the high school prior to June 25th will not constitute official notification and ONNSFA will not be responsible for any misrepresentation or incorrect announcements.
