2024-2025
City Nature Challenge ABQ
Friday, April 25, 2025, 8:00 AM to Monday, April 28, 2025, 5:00 PM
City Nature Challenge ABQ invites everyone in Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia Counties to explore nature in and around your community and share your observations. You can look for wildlife on your own, or attend a public event. Help us compete against cities all over the world!
City Nature Challenge is a friendly competition between urban areas across the world to see who can make the most nature observations!
It’s easy to participate:
- Set up an account at iNaturalist.org or in the iNaturalist app, and join the CNC ABQ 2025 project.
- Take and submit your photos (and sounds) of animals and their signs (tracks, scat, feathers, etc.), plants, and fungi that you find during the challenge.
- Help identify others’ observations, and have iNaturalist and its community help you, through May 5 at 9 a.m.
Join free in-person events throughout the challenge!
Teachers, check out the City Nature Challenge Education Toolkit for guidance on how to participate with your class, and access activities aligned to Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for all grade levels.
