Van Dongen Books Kids Want to Read Fund
Too often, there are limited district resources available for collection development in school libraries, and still less funds available to keep library collections current and relevant to the specific culture and needs of individual school communities.
In honor of Barbara and Richard Van Dongen, the "Books Kids Want to Read" fund helps librarians update their collections and keep students interested, inspired, and engaged.
Barbara and Richard were dedicated educators in Albuquerque. Barbara worked as classroom teacher, then as a teacher librarian and eventually served as Albuquerque Public Schools District Librarian until she retired. Richard began his career in elementary education in APS until he pursued higher education at the University of New Mexico, eventually leading to senior leadership in the College of Education. In honor of Barbara and Richard, this fund provides district school librarians with a resource to purchase "Books Kids Want to Read."
To join in this effort to support school librarians, donate to the Van Dongen Books Kids Want to Read Fund.
The Raquel Reedy Fund
On behalf of the APS Education Foundation Board of Directors and Staff, we would like to honor Albuquerque Public Schools Superintendent Raquel Reedy’s retirement with The Raquel Reedy Fund to support her legacy, decades of service, and continuing her passion for education.
Her fund supports the values she holds dear: students, teachers, and families.
The programs that benefit from her generosity focus on: Early Learning, College & Career Readiness, Attendance, The Whole Child, and Parent and Community Engagement.
To join in this effort to support the potential of every student, donate to The Raquel Ready Fund.
