J.10 School-Linked and School-Based Health Services Clinics - April 2001 Revision

Notice: This policy was reviewed, revised, and/or renamed. We provide this revision for historic purposes only. Please see our current policies and procedural directives.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education recognizes that school-linked and school-based health services provide students with health care that will support them in reaching their full educational potential. The Board authorizes and supports the operation of these services.

Direct funding for the school-linked and school-based services will not be provided from the Albuquerque Public Schools budget that is generated by the State Equalization Formula. Schools may be asked to determine the availability of and access to space, supplies, equipment, and other in-kind support.

Independent health care providers, who are qualified under applicable state standards to provide services, will provide school-linked and school-based health services. These providers do not operate under the governance of the District; however, birth control devices and medication will not be dispensed at school sites.
