About the Search
The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education is searching for a superintendent to replace Superintendent Scott Elder, whose contract expires on June 30, 2024. The board expects to have a new superintendent in place by July 1.
Online Survey
Students, families, staff, and the community are encouraged to complete an online survey available from Nov. 8-22 on the characteristics of the next superintendent. The board will use the public input as they evaluate applicants. Just like with the goals and guardrails, the board wants the characteristics of the new superintendent to reflect the community’s vision and values.
Job Posting
The position has been posted and advertised, and McPherson & Jacobson, the firm working with APS on the search, is accepting applications. Anyone interested has until Dec. 12 to apply.
Timeline
The board is on track to having a new superintendent chosen by the end of January and in place to hit the ground running before the 2024-2025 school year.
