APS School Transfer Window Opens Oct. 26
Submit your online application early for transfers outside your neighborhood school boundary.
Albuquerque Public Schools will begin accepting school transfer requests for the 2027–28 school year on Monday, Oct. 26, giving families an opportunity to choose a school that best fits their child's interests and needs.
Most APS schools welcome transfer students, providing families a wide range of choices across the district. Whether they're looking for a specialized program, a different learning environment or a school closer to work, families can explore schools that best match their child's interests and needs.
Explore Your School Options
Throughout October, APS schools are hosting tours, open houses and other events where families can visit classrooms, meet teachers and staff, and learn more about the opportunities available to students. Check out October school events and tour information!
Most APS students attend schools based on where they live, but families can request transfers to schools outside their attendance boundaries.

How to Request a Transfer
Beginning Oct. 26, families can submit transfer requests online through ParentVUE, the district's parent portal.
Transfer requests are reviewed based on available space at the requested school.
Families who requested a transfer for their students by Nov. 30 will be notified via email by Dec. 8 whether the request has been granted. If the request was approved, they will have until Dec. 18 to accept or decline the transfer in ParentVUE.
Families who need assistance can contact the APS Service Center through Let’s Talk or by calling 505-855-9040.
