APS Student Advances to State Civics Bee Competition
Eisenhower student takes second place.
Eliza Sprinkle, a student at Eisenhower Middle School, secured a second-place finish at the Regional Civics Bee competition this past Saturday, earning a spot in the upcoming state finals.
Sprinkle was among four Albuquerque Public Schools students who competed in the regional event. Fellow Eisenhower student Cooper Gabaldon and Corrales K-8 students Leland Mazerigo and Bernadette Perlis also represented the district in the competition.
The state competition is scheduled for June 13 at the Berna Facio Professional Development Center in Albuquerque. The event, held in partnership with the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce Foundation and APS, will feature top students from across the state competing for a chance to represent New Mexico at the national championship in Washington, D.C., this November.
