Students Become Entrepreneurs at Art Mart

Posted April 13, 2026, 12:15 PM. Updated April 14, 2026, 2:33 PM.

Event will be held April 18 at Berna Facio Professional Development Center.

For the second year in a row, the Albuquerque Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts department will sponsor a district-wide Art Mart. There will be over 50 APS high school student vendors selling original art, prints and a variety of handmade goods.

Art Mart got its start at Albuquerque High School and is now an event held at five other high schools. This is a great opportunity for any high school student in the district to become a vendor, share their artistic talents, become young entrepreneurs and contribute to New Mexico's creative industries.

Students applied by watching video interviews with two local artist-entrepreneurs, then reflected on the tips shared. Students also provided information on the type of work they would have for sale. High school students from all across the city will be represented.

Art Mart will take place on Saturday, April 18. Doors open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., while the Metro Youth Art Exhibit opens at 9 a.m. The Art Mart and Metro will be at the APS Berna Facio Professional Development Complex, 3115 Louisiana Blvd. NE.

Both events are excellent examples of the district's Goal 3, which strives to prepare APS students for post-graduation readiness. Please join APS in congratulating our student artists on their perseverance and community involvement as they enter the world as creative and productive citizens.
