Meet & Ask Questions of Superintendent Finalists

Posted March 31, 2015, 3:30 PM. Updated May 3, 2019, 2:04 PM.

APS will host four community forums for students, families, employees, business representatives and government officials.

Dear APS Students, Families, Staff and Friends,

Some of the most important work the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education will complete happens within the next few weeks when we select the next superintendent, and we would really appreciate your participation.

You can find details of the search here, but we are asking you to take it one step further and join us for our upcoming community meetings. This will be your chance to meet the finalists face to face.

The meetings will be:

  • Thursday, April 9, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. – Community Forum for parents and families*
  • Friday, April 10, 7 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. – Community Forum for students and APS employees*
  • Friday, April 10, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Community Forum for business and government officials*
  • Friday, April 10, 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Community Forum for students and APS employees*

*Anyone interested can attend any of the forums; the designations indicate target groups.

Read the resumes of the six semi-finalists here.

All meetings will take place at the Alice & Bruce King Educational Complex, 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE (APS administration building).

During these forums you will be able to submit questions and, time permitted, hear the candidates' answers.

Spanish interpreters will be provided at the 6 p.m. meeting on Thursday, April 9, and at the 11:30 a.m. event on Friday, April 10. You may attend any gathering that is convenient for you.

We know you are busy and have a lot going on. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for all you do for Albuquerque Public Schools. We say it often because it is true – we simply cannot do it alone.

With gratitude,

Dr. Don Duran
APS Board of Education President
