New Mexico-focused learning and student-led exploration make for an unforgettable evening of discovery.

John Adams Middle School hosted Science Night in November, featuring teacher-led exhibits and hands-on demonstrations that brought science concepts to life. Families enjoyed pizza, salad and soft drinks while exploring activities focused on science in New Mexico and real-world applications.

Exhibits highlighted the six types of volcanoes found in New Mexico, including an active composite volcano model. A major display showcased New Mexico’s role in the Manhattan Project and the state’s contributions to the space program. Students also created animal footprints using printing blocks.

Everyday science concepts were explored through life-size skeletons and lessons on the human skeletal system. Students engaged in building balloon-powered jet cars, density and static electricity demonstrations, and even met live hissing cockroaches provided by a breeder.

The event was well-attended, engaging and exciting for students and families—and the school is already looking forward to hosting it again next year.
