School on Wheels Students Show Significant Growth Through SEL Innovation
The school’s student-centered SEL space, The Den, is helping boost self-regulation, belonging and trusted relationships.
School on Wheels is demonstrating what’s possible when a school builds intentional systems rooted in student voice, safety and connection. As part of its 90-Day Plan, the school launched The Den—a student-centered safe space designed to help young people regulate, reset and return to learning ready to succeed.
The Den is staffed in partnership with student-selected Teacher Champions, trusted adults chosen by students to support them through challenges, celebrate their strengths and guide SEL skill-building. This model has helped create a school culture where students feel seen, supported and empowered.
