Robotics Teams Compete on the World Stage
Middle school students represent New Mexico at the VEX Robotics World Championship.
Several Albuquerque Public Schools students recently took their skills to the global stage, representing New Mexico at the VEX Robotics World Championship.
Four APS middle school teams—two from Jefferson Middle School, one from Desert Ridge Middle School and one from Truman Middle School—earned the opportunity to compete against hundreds of teams from around the world. The event brought together 586 middle school teams and 121 university teams, highlighting the highest levels of student innovation and engineering.
Over multiple days of competition, students participated in alliance matches, autonomous skills challenges and driving skills events. The experience required not only technical expertise, but also teamwork, problem-solving and perseverance.
Between matches, APS students worked quickly to repair and refine their robots, constantly improving performance. They also collaborated with alliance teams, communicating strategies and adapting in real time during competition.
The long days and fast-paced environment tested students’ endurance and determination, but they rose to the challenge, representing APS with skill, resilience and pride.
Their participation reflects the strength of robotics programs across the district and the hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for future careers in science, technology and engineering.
