Rio Grande Hosts Back-to-School Bash
Annual event connects hundreds of students and families with school supplies, resources and community partners.
More than 400 students from Rio Grande High School and its neighboring elementary and middle schools started the school year with the supplies they need to succeed thanks to the school's second annual Back-to-School Bash.
The community celebration brought together schools, community partners, volunteers, staff and families for a day of fun and support before the start of the new school year.
Students and families enjoyed a variety of activities, including a climbing wall, a car show and a performance by the Kit Carson Elementary School cheerleaders. Blue Door Neighborhood Center also provided vaccines, helping families prepare for the school year.
The event was months in the making, with Community School Impact Coordinators leading the planning and coordination efforts. Their work brought together numerous community partners to ensure students and families had access to valuable resources in one place.
A special thank-you goes to Antoinette Valenzuela for her leadership and support in helping organize the event and bringing partners together to serve Rio Grande students and families.
The Back-to-School Bash is another example of how APS Community Schools connect families with resources while building strong partnerships that help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
