Hoop Dance Brings Culture and Connection
Champion dancer shares tradition, talent and inspiration with Tres Volcanes students.
Students at Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School recently experienced a powerful cultural presentation that brought learning to life.
The school welcomed Joseph Secody, the reigning West Coast Hoop Dance Champion, along with his son, for a special visit. During their time on campus, Secody shared his talent, cultural knowledge and the art of hoop dance, creating a meaningful connection with students and staff.
Through the performance and conversation, students gained insight into the traditions and storytelling behind hoop dance, while also experiencing the dedication and skill it takes to master the craft.
The visit reflects Tres Volcanes' commitment to community-connected learning, providing students with opportunities to engage with real-world experiences and diverse perspectives.
