Hands-On Science Sparks Curiosity at Tres Volcanes
Eighth graders explore real-world anatomy through an engaging lab experience.
Students at Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School are taking their science learning beyond the textbook and into real-world exploration.
Recently, eighth-grade students participated in a hands-on fetal pig dissection lab, guided by their teachers. What began with a few nervous reactions quickly shifted into focused curiosity as students dove into the experience, connecting what they’ve learned in class to real anatomy.
Throughout the lab, students worked collaboratively and approached the activity with care and respect, identifying organs and gaining a deeper understanding of how body systems function.
The experience highlighted not only scientific concepts, but also critical thinking, teamwork and student engagement. By the end of the lab, students demonstrated confidence and a growing passion for science.
Opportunities like this help bring learning to life, giving students meaningful, memorable experiences that deepen their understanding and spark curiosity.
