Marie Hughes Elementary welcomes over 290 special guests for Grandparents Day.
Marie Hughes Elementary Community School was filled with extra love and joy as it celebrated National Grandparents Day by welcoming grandparents and special loved ones to share lunch with students.
Grandparents and other important loved ones play a vital role in students' lives. These relationships provide encouragement, connection, wisdom and a sense of belonging that can have a lasting impact on a child’s life. When families and schools come together, students are surrounded by an even stronger community of support.
The importance of these relationships was certainly evident as more than 290 grandparents and special loved ones attended this year's celebration! Marie Hughes' cafeteria and courtyard were filled with conversations, hugs, laughter and special moments as students proudly welcomed their guests to their school.
Grandparents Day is about much more than sharing a meal. It is an opportunity to celebrate the people who show up for students, invest in their lives, and help them feel known, valued and loved.
School leaders said they were incredibly grateful for every grandparent and special loved one who joined the event, and for the Marie Hughes staff who helped make the celebration possible. Thank you for being an important part of the Husky community and, most importantly, of our students' lives!
