Celebrating a Decade of Music Excellence
For the 10th year, APS has been recognized by NAMM for outstanding support of Music Education.
Albuquerque Public Schools has once again been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants for its outstanding commitment to music education. This is the tenth time APS has received the honor.
Now in its 27th year, the award recognizes school districts and individual schools nationwide for their leadership in advancing music education and expanding equitable access for all students.
The designation is awarded based on a comprehensive review of a district’s music education program, including student participation, access to music courses, teacher qualifications, graduation requirements, facilities, funding and standards for assessment. APS continues to stand out for its commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to explore and grow through music.
From elementary classrooms to high school performance stages, APS students engage in a wide range of musical experiences that support creativity, collaboration and academic success. Strong participation rates and a well-rounded curriculum help ensure music education remains an integral part of the student experience across the district.
“Music education plays a vital role in helping students find their voice, build confidence and connect with their community,” Superintendent Gabriella Durán Blakey said. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our educators and the importance we place on providing students with meaningful, well-rounded learning experiences that include the arts.”
