Buddy Day Brings Students Together at Tres Volcanes
Monthly cross-grade activities foster mentorship, collaboration and a strong sense of community.
At Tres Volcanes Community Collaborative School, building a strong sense of community is at the heart of what we do. Monthly, students come together for a special Buddy Day, where middle school classes are paired with elementary classes to strengthen school culture, encourage collaboration and build meaningful relationships.
Students worked side by side on engaging, hands-on projects. Activities included creating colorful hot air balloon crafts in celebration of the upcoming Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, designing imaginative comic strips for National Comic Book Day, and more.
Buddy Day gives middle school students the opportunity to serve as mentors and role models, while elementary students bring their curiosity and enthusiasm to every activity. The classrooms buzzed with laughter, teamwork and new friendships—reflecting the true spirit of Tres Volcanes.
Events like our monthly Buddy Day are an important part of how we grow together—not just as students, but as one connected school community. By fostering collaboration across grade levels, Tres Volcanes continues to create a supportive environment where every student feels valued, inspired and part of something bigger.
