Three APS students and one librarian are recognized for their dedication to summer reading in Dion’s and Albuquerque Isotopes’ program.

Three APS elementary students and one dedicated APS librarian have been recognized for their outstanding participation in Dion’s and the Albuquerque Isotopes’ 22nd annual Club Read summer reading program.

Avery Tribou from Osuna Elementary, Opal Scurlock from Collet Park Elementary, and Presley Ansotique from Double Eagle Elementary were among just four grand prize winners drawn at random from more than 7,000 participants across the state. Each read at least 12 books over the summer, earning rewards such as free pizza, Isotopes tickets and a new book—plus a chance to throw out a ceremonial first pitch at an Isotopes game.

In addition, Armijo Elementary librarian Amy Nims received the Laura Rasmussen Love of Reading Award for her school’s high level of participation. The honor celebrates librarians who inspire a love of reading and is named in memory of former Dion’s and Isotopes employee Laura Rasmussen.

The Club Read program, which has helped students log more than 631,000 books since 2003, is a prime example of how local businesses support education and student success.
