Fifth-grader Jesseca Garcia wins election while courageously recovering from multiple surgeries.

The U.S. government may be shut down, but campaigns and speeches are in full swing at Alameda Elementary! The school Cheer Club kicked off the assembly with an energetic routine that got everyone on their feet and set the tone for an exciting election event.

We are especially proud to announce our new Class President, Jesseca Garcia. Jesseca’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Despite facing a difficult start to her 5th-grade year with 12 surgeries so far, she remained determined to achieve her goal. From her hospital room at Children’s Hospital in Colorado, Jesseca shared her dream of getting well and running for office—and she made it happen!

Her resilience, courage and commitment to leadership remind us all that challenges can be transformed into triumphs. Jesseca is a shining example of determination and Mustang pride.
