Gold Bar a Celebration of APS Students
Hundreds turned out to celebrate Selfless Seniors, Outstanding Corporate Partner, and the Best In Class nominees.
And the winner is – Roosevelt Middle School.
The school’s SMART Farm/Engineering Club won Best In Class honors and walked away with a $15,000 grant to continue its innovative work exploring solutions to problems like climate change, overpopulation, dwindling habitats, and the challenges facing food production for the future.
Members of the community were asked to select the winner by voting for their top pick. Three Albuquerque Public Schools programs were vying for the award. Second place went to APS Esports, which received a $10,000 grant to expand its program. The third nominee, Middle School Leadership Program for Archery 3D, received a $5,000 grant.
The APS Education Foundation announced the winner at its Gold Bar event on Friday at Sandia Resort & Casino. Hundreds attended the event to celebrate this year’s Selfless Seniors and honor PNM, the Foundation’s Outstanding Corporate Partner.
The event was emceed by APS students and featured student performances throughout the evening.
