Jakob DeWolf – Custodian, La Cueva High School
Colleagues describe Jakob DeWolf as the kind of employee who brings energy and positivity to campus daily. “Jakob consistently shows up to work with a smile on his face, and is ready to tackle the day with enthusiasm,” his nominator said, adding that DeWolf is always willing to take on tasks outside his daily duties and does so without hesitation. “Anytime he is needed to perform tasks outside of his daily job duties, he is able and willing and will be the first to volunteer.” His commitment goes far beyond the basics, showing his genuine desire to contribute meaningfully.
DeWolf’s efforts can be seen all over La Cueva’s campus, where his meticulous attention to detail has left facilities cleaner and more welcoming. “A tangible result of Jakob’s dedication is that the outside of the campus has never looked cleaner.” He has improved the track, baseball and softball fields, maintaining them for student use and fostering a strong sense of school pride. His nominator added, “His enthusiasm is contagious, creating a more uplifting atmosphere for students, colleagues and parents alike.” DeWolf’s dedication to teamwork and communication has strengthened the La Cueva community.
Leslie Ganz – Health Assistant, Lowell Elementary School
Leslie Ganz is known for her compassion and dedication in serving the health needs of Lowell students, many of whom face complex medical and emotional challenges. Her nominator said, “Leslie goes above and beyond her duties as a Health Assistant. She cares deeply about the students, treating them with compassion and care.” Her nominator also highlighted how she has even written and received grants to ensure Lowell has the necessary supplies, going well beyond her role’s requirements. She even leverages her background as a dental hygienist to teach oral hygiene in classrooms.
Her work doesn’t stop there. Ganz is an active presence across the school, helping with Health and Wellness meetings, gathering clothes from the Clothing Bank and assisting with fifth-grade growth and development classes. “It is definitely not a job requirement, but Leslie’s motivation is always to provide what she can for the families of Lowell.” Colleagues describe her as level-headed and inspirational, deeply invested in the wellbeing of students and families alike. Her work reflects compassion and creativity, ensuring students have the tools and knowledge they need to thrive.
Ana Gentile – Family Liaison, Reginald Chavez Elementary School
Ana Gentile has built a reputation for her dedication to students and families through her role as Family Liaison. “As the Family Liaison, Ana has developed a great rapport with our teachers, students and families,” her nominator said, noting that she regularly checks in on families even without being asked. “She goes above and beyond to make sure families and students have the resources needed to succeed in school.”
In addition to her outreach work, Gentile is always ready to step into whatever role the school needs. “Ana is always happily willing to fill in where needed in the school, which includes subbing in various classes with little notice.” Her willingness to serve wherever necessary makes her a trusted and reliable teammate for staff and families. By combining warmth, initiative and adaptability, Gentile has strengthened the sense of community at Reginald Chavez while focusing squarely on student success.
Jennifer Taylor – Educational Assistant, North Star Elementary School
While her official title is educational assistant, Jennifer Taylor’s work extends much further. “She works tirelessly to ensure that school events are on point and special for families,” her nominator said. “She supports staff far beyond making copies—sitting in a classroom for a teacher who has a meeting, bringing important concerns to the principal when needed, cheering on our staff as they grow kiddos.” Her dedication to both staff and students shows through in countless ways.
Taylor also brings a sense of pride and care that elevates the school environment. Her nominator shared an example, “Before our Kinder recruiting event this week, I found Jen cleaning windows in the cafeteria because they had finger smudges on them. She blew up balloons and set them up for the event to make it special for the attendees.” Known for her love of North Star—where her own children attended—Taylor pours her heart into everything she does. “The North Star Wolves LOVE Jen Taylor!”
