2018-19 School Calendar

First day of school is Aug. 13, 2018. Teachers return Aug. 6.

The 2018-19 school calendar approved by the Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education has students returning to class on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, and wrapping up the school year on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.

Winter break for students stretches from Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, to Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 (which is a training day for school staff). Second semester starts on Jan. 7, 2019.

And, for the first time in several years, spring break is at the same time as UNM's during the week of March 11, 2019.

Here are important school dates for 2018-19:

Sept. 3 Labor Day (schools and administrative offices closed)
Oct. 11-12

Fall break (administrative offices open) 

Oct. 30-31 Middle School student-led conferences
Nov. 19-20 Elementary School parent/teacher conferences
Nov. 21-23 Thanksgiving break (schools closed; administrative offices closed Nov. 22-23)

Dec. 21-Jan. 4

Winter break (schools closed; administrative offices closed Dec. 24-Jan. 1)

Jan. 4

Professional development day for school staff (no school for students)
Jan. 7, 2019 First day of second semester
Jan. 21 Martin Luther King Jr. Day (schools closed; administrative offices open)
Feb. 18 Presidents Day (schools and administrative offices closed)
March 7-8 Parent conferences for all three levels (elementary, middle and high school)
March 11-15 Spring break (schools closed; administrative offices open)
April 19 Vernal Holiday (schools and administrative offices closed)
May 13-17 Graduation Week
May 22 Last day of school
May 23-24 Weather make-up day
May 27

Memorial Day (schools and administrative offices closed)

Monday through Thursday, June 11-July 19, at 25 summer lunch meal sites in the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. Lunch is served at all sites from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
