2022 Secondary Summer School

2022 face-to-face Credit Recovery Summer School is only open to currently enrolled (2021-2022) APS students (traditional or magnet) in grades 9-12. Currently enrolled APS 8th graders going into 9th grade may take PE only.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 223 Seniors who persevered and completed their final credits in order to participate in the Summer Commencement Ceremony.

Semester Schedule

Each semester is 15 days.

  • Semester 1: Thursday, June 9 through Wednesday, June 29, 2022
  • Semester 2: Thursday, June 30 through Thursday, July 21, 2022  (No class Monday, July 4)

Daily Sessions

Morning (AM) and Afternoon (PM), Monday through Friday:

  • AM Session: 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • PM Session: 12:45 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Lunch will be available

Course Offerings

Currently enrolled APS students in grades 9-12

May take all common high school core content for credit recovery, for a maximum of 2.0 credits. 

All classes are a maximum of 35 students and are on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Register early with the home school site counselor.

Currently enrolled APS Incoming Freshmen

  • May take PE for credit advancement only. 
  • Must take Semester 1 and Semester 2 to meet the 1.0 PE requirement.
  • May not take any other courses.

Language and Cultural Equity

  • Will offer virtual online classes in an AM session Semester 1 & 2.
  • Courses are at no cost for those who meet eligibility as determined by the home school site counselor.

Registration

School Counselors will register students from April 4  May 31, 2022 at their home school.

After May 31, students may visit City Centre, First Floor West Conference Rooms:

  • June 1 - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • June 2, 3, 6, 7 - 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • June 8 - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • June 9 - 8:30 a.m. to 3:30p.m.
  • June 28 - 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • June 29 - 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Credit Recovery courses - No fee
  • Incoming Freshmen - PE advancement course fee is based on the Free/Reduced Lunch Plan

Tuition Deadlines

Students will be removed from the course if tuition is not paid by the following dates:

  • Wednesday, June 1, 2022
  • Sunday, June 26, 2022

Refunds

Refunds will be provided in the following cases:

  • The class is canceled due to low enrollment.
  • The student realizes they do not need the class.
  • The student has a documented emergency:
    • Medical
    • Unplanned or unknown immediate family matter

Refunds will not be provided in the following cases:

  • The student is dropped due to non-attendance.
  • The student does not pass the class.

  • Semester 2: July 1, 2022

Student Conduct and Expectations

All summer school students, parents, teachers, and administrators may refer to the 2021-2022 APS Student Handbook for all student-related policies and guidelines:

Summer violations of the student handbook may result in dis-enrollment.

Attendance and Dis-enrollment

Students will earn credit for a course upon successful completion of assignments and earning a passing grade.

Documented Emergencies

Only documented emergencies will be considered excused absences.  Documented emergencies include:

  • Medical
  • Unplanned or unknown immediate family matter

Dis-enrollment Due to Absences

The student will be dropped from the class at the end of the 8th hour of absence.

There are no refunds for attendance drops (freshmen PE).
