Free Launch to Learn Health Care Enrollment Event on Saturday, July 11th!

Free health care enrollment event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Erna Fergusson Library.

APS has teamed up with the City of Albuquerque, Mission Graduate, United Way, University of New Mexico and ABC Libraries to host three summer fun & wellness fairs in conjunction with “Launch to Learn,” a city summer learning initiative that focuses on providing health education to students and families in a fun, engaging environment.

This free event will be held at the Erna Fergusson Library from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Erna Fergusson Library is located at 3700 San Mateo Blvd NE (map).

"Open enrollment” for Federal Health Insurance officially ended on February 15th, so we encourage not only APS families to attend but the entire community. Medicaid enrollment can be done year round. On-site enrollment will be offered as well as certified health care guides to provide information and assistance in applying for Medicaid, Medicare or information on insurance through New Mexico’s Health Insurance Exchange.

This event will also include vision and dental checks, dental cleanings, and immunizations for adults and children.  There will be food and drinks, hourly BioPark pass giveaways and other door prizes, activities for children and presentations on healthy lifestyles. The City of Albuquerque will also issue 5,000 free bus passes to summer school students and families, and will also be issuing a passport that can later be redeemed for prizes. You can pick up a passport at any of these ‘Launch to Learn’ events.

“Because health-related issues can be barriers to learning, APS is working on ways for students and families to be healthier,” said Brian Bolding, Medicaid enrollment coordinator in the APS Student, Family, and Community Supports Division. “We at APS believe that a healthier student is a more successful student.”
