General descriptors of instructional emphasis for all levels with Level 1 and Level 2 Support.

All Levels

Designed to provide specialized instruction to students who demonstrate a need for more intensive support due to significant global learning deficits and global adaptive behavior skills deficits that require systematic instruction guided principles and practical application in multiple settings or generalization.

Level 1

Instructional emphasis is placed on fluency, maintenance, and generalization of skills in the following areas:

  • Functional and/or vocational academics
  • Basic communication
  • Self-care/self determination
  • Practical life skills
  • Social/emotional skills
  • Citizenship skills
  • Transition

Level 2

Instructional emphasis is placed on acquisition and fluency of skills and/or participation in the following areas:

  • Basic conceptual skills and functional academics
  • Acquiring basic communication
  • Self-help/self-care
  • Social/emotional skills
  • Therapeutic responses
  • Transition
