Steps for New Students to Request their Student ID Number and a Transfer

Directions for new students who do not have an APS Student ID Number and need to request a transfer.

  • 45 minutes to complete the application
  • Allow a few days for the Service Center to process the application
    • After your student’s registration is processed, you will receive an email with your student’s APS ID number. If you want to request a transfer to another APS school, use this ID number to complete your request through the Student Transfer Request Form.
    • Requests for the 2023-2024 school year can be made online starting Jan. 1, 2023 or in person starting Jan. 3.
    • High volumes of requests may cause delays. If you need immediate assistance, email .

Directions for Families New to the District

If you are a new family to the district, you will need a ParentVUE account. With a ParentVUE Account, you can register your student, receive the Student ID number, and then request a transfer.

Step 1: Create a ParentVUE Account

  1. Visit the ParentVUE page on aps.edu.
  2. Select "Create your ParentVUE Account."

Step 2: Register the Student in ParentVUE

  1. Once your account is active, fill out the Online Registration for 2023-2024 school year.
    Note: The year cannot be changed.
  2. Remember that you are registering for the purpose of securing an ID in 2023-2024. Complete the field requiring the student grade with the current grade level. For example, if your student will start in August as a kindergartener, indicate that the student is currently PK grade level or if your student will start in August as a 6th grader, indicate that the student is currently a 5th grader.
  3. Under the Document section upload a birth certificate for the student. The request cannot be processed without this document.
  4. When you reach the "Review & Submit" section:
    1. A dropdown menu will appear and display either your district Elementary School, Middle School, or High School, and "Transfer Request."
    2. Submit your registration directly to "Transfer Request."

When will I receive my Student ID Number?

The Student ID Number will be emailed to you after your student's registration has been processed. Allow a few days for the registration to be processed.

Step 3: Request the Transfer

After you have received your Student ID Number via email, you may fill out the transfer application.

Transfer applications for the 2023-2024 school year can be made online or in person. Online transfer applications for the 2023-2024 school year start on Jan. 1, 2023.

You are also welcome to submit your application in person at City Center: 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE, Suite 100 West, starting on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.

Note: There are no physical Student ID Number request forms. All Student ID Numbers are obtained by registering through ParentVUE.

Directions for Families with a ParentVUE Account

If you already have a ParentVUE account but need to register a new student who will request a transfer, you will need to add the new student in your ParentVUE account.

Once you add the new student to your ParentVUE account, they will be issued a Student ID Number, and you may request a transfer.

Step 1: Log into ParentVUE

  1. Go to the ParentVUE/StudentVUE Portal.
  2. Click "I am a parent >>" and enter your username and password.

Step 2: Register the Student in ParentVUE

  1. Select "Online Registration" at the top of the page.
  2. The registration year will be "2023-2024".
    Note: The registration year cannot be changed.
  3. If there are any incomplete sections, you will be asked to complete them.
  4. You will reach the "Students" tab.
  5. Select "Add New Student."
    Note:
    Please press the "exclude" button next to any existing students to avoid duplicate registration.
  6. Provide information about your student.
